MEET THE APPRENTICE

Caleb Kelly - Electrical Apprentice

CALEB KELLY

Age: 16

Title: Electrical Apprentice at Parker Technical Services

How did you hear about the apprenticeship opportunity?

I heard about the apprenticeships through my brother Connol Kelly who is also an electrical apprentice at Parker Technical Services.

When did you start your apprenticeship at Parker and what made you want to apply?

I started in January 2022. An apprenticeship has always interested me, I wanted to do a hands on job, especially after helping my brother with his work from time-to-time.

How long is your apprenticeship?

4 years

Which course / courses / qualifications will you be undertaking as part of your apprenticeship?

SVQ in Electrical installation

"I have been on two projects in the short time I have been here, but the main project is a new distillery in Grantown called The Cairn. Being part of the team that is delivering the project is great for my learning and knowing it’s a project I can say I helped build when passing in years to come is very satisfying."

CALEB'S APPRENTICE JOURNEY SO FAR...

Are you enjoying the apprenticeship at Parker Technical Services so far?

I am loving it so far, everyone has been very welcoming. It hasn’t always been easy but I’ve learnt a great deal in the last eight weeks.

Which elements of being an apprentice do you think are the most interesting / have you enjoyed the most?

Learning something new every day on the tools is my favourite part of the apprenticeship. That and being part of a small or large team depending on the project – it really gives you the opportunity to see what’s entailed on different projects.

Have you been involved in any standout projects? What have you enjoyed learning about the most / being part of?

So far I have been on two projects in the short time I have been here, but the main project is a new distillery in Grantown called ‘The Cairn’. Again, being part of the team that is delivering the project is great for my learning and knowing it’s a project I can say I helped build when passing in years to come is very satisfying.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to other people considering it?

Yes, 100%.
