The new role has been created to support growth in traditional facilities maintenance, and the hybrid model that combines building services with more complex process engineering services. Varo will also head up key customer management across the group and support a programme of digital transformation.
Commenting on the appointment Mark Orpin, COO at Edwin James Group, said, “Facilities maintenance is a key part of our business. Our hybrid model brings together our group capabilities, across both process and infrastructure engineering, delivering a unified approach to the asset lifecycle that drives greater efficiencies and environmental benefits for our customers.
“I’m really pleased to welcome Simon into this new role; he will be instrumental in helping to deliver the strategic vision for this part of the business. He has a great track record of working in complex environments and that experience is a perfect fit for our customers.”
Simon Varo added, “It’s a great time to be joining Edwin James Group. The business has seen lots of success in the last 12 months and I’m excited to be part of the growth strategy. I’m looking forward to getting to know our clients and playing an integral part in helping them operate successfully.”
Varo is a Chartered Engineer (CIBSE) and an Executive MBA from Cranfield University, and joins from EMCOR UK where he worked for 12 years.
