We are currently have a new career opportunity for a new Workshop Manager / Production Manager for our sheet metal/fabrication facility in Swadlincote, we are a specialist manufacturer of process systems including pressure vessels and pipework either new installs or refurbishments, this is a fantastic job opportunity for someone who is looking to work in a professional working environment where quality of delivery and product is paramount

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and communicate operational performance compliance
  • Manage production and flow through the factory
  • Responsible for the entire Plant activities and product manufacturing operation on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensure that stock replenishment and Kanban system quantities reflect optimal production requirements, ensure efficient purchasing and inventory management of raw materials.
  • Prepare quality control documentation, train reports in necessary process checks
  • Ensure Appropriate quality is maintained to accredited standards (ASME1X, BS EN 287, CE)
  • Participate in design/process reviews for products and parts as required
  • Outstanding leadership, organisational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Manage the work schedule ensuring project delivery ready for installation
  • Proficient with Lean Manufacturing techniques and tools, understand key principles: 8 wastes, Standard work, Visual workplace, Continuous Improvements, Kanban, SMED, Kaizen, PDCA, 5why, VSM and Developing people and teams
  • Ensuring all Health & Safety is complied with and championing a compliant working environment

Skills & Experience
We value everyone’s skills and experiences but for this role are looking for people who are:
  • Are qualified to at least a degree or HNC level in an engineering discipline (qualified by experience will also be considered)
  • Have previous experience working as a Workshop Production manager within a sheet metal /fabrication or fast moving manufacturing environment
  • Experienced in working to tight quality standards
  • Proven in implementing a lean manufacturing philosophy and maintaining the principles over time
  • Are a coherent and concise communicator verbally as well as written
  • used to working to and understanding of necessary company procedures for: Attendance, Disciplinary, Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Holidays and Operational Code of Conduct
  • Able to consistently produce and monitor work schedules to enable on time delivery
  • Good with IT and have appropriate skills (MS packages, CAD)
